Ok- I'm posting the last square a little early. Why- because I'm truly tired of squares!! I'm going to avoid them like the plague tomorrow. I may even photograph circles just to make them jealous!! (o:
This little picture hung by the door in my grandmother's house. Since I was the "artistic one" my aunt gave it to me when Gramma passed away. For some reason, my son Erick loved this little picture and he wanted it to hang in his room. It is now lovingly displayed in his dinning room. I'm glad to see it there. I think Gramma would be pleased too.
@lisjam1 Thanks Lisabell- I'm glad I stuck this one out, but it definitely was a challenge- mostly on the creative side. Around week three I felt it was a little constraining, but I didn't want to quit on it- that's just me!
@sarasdadandmom Thanks Terry- I know what you mean. I'm picky about which ones I do- I tend to stay away from the competitive ones and choose the ones that tickle my creativity. This one seemed a bit long after week three- but I did manage to get it done. Glad you like the little painting- it's got a soft spot in my heart.
I just love your month of squares! I went back through the whole month and thoroughly enjoyed your creativity and ingenuity. So many unusual choices and the processing you chose added to the originality. Well done, O Queen of the Squares!
BTW, I love this little painting. It looks like a book illustration from the 50's.
@kerristephens Thank you Kerri! @allie912 Allison! You make me laugh about myself- something I truly need right now after reading the thread of tributes! It's a tiny little painting and I think it might have been done by someone my grandmother knew, but I don't have any way of finding out now. @digitalrn Thank you Rick! I appreciate all your comments on them!
Thanks to all of you for faithfully viewing all these squares! You are now all graduates of Square University.
@potsbypam Pam you are too funny! And yes, I see the resemblance to W.Va. My undergrad degree is from Bethany College and there were a few farms near the school that looked like this.
@nicolecampbell No more geometry for me Nicole!! I'll probably do Alia's December challenge- it's based on words- not shapes!! @lisjam1 lol Lisabell- absolutely!! @steeler Thanks Howard!
What a treasure!!! Is there a story behind the photo, like did someone in your family do the painting? Simple watercolor photos like this one attract me. Maybe it's the kid in me ;-)
@cimes1 Thanks Carole- I'm not sure who the artist was- it wasn't one of my family, but my grandmother may have known them. I can't read the name very well and my aunt did not remember where it came from. It's actually a little oil painting- measures about 4"x4" with the frame!
Just looked over the whole month of your square pictures. that must have been quite a challange. needless to say this last one holds some nice memories for you..it's a beautiful oil painting....
@alia_801 Thank you Alia. I will cherish my title! I'm looking forward to the new one and I must confess, it's refreshing to be out of the square mode! @bruni Thanks Bruni- yes, it's a sweet little picture, although in this shot it looks like it could be much bigger.
