Solitude by olivetreeann

Solitude

Solitude is something I often seek. I don't mind being alone, especially on a day when the sun is coming through the curtains and bathing the room in white light. These are the days I most love to contemplate; to think about life and faith and to enjoy the quiet and comfort of my home. Solitude is not a lonely state for me. Instead it is a time when I replenish, refresh and reorient my thinking. Perhaps I seek it more often now because the world seems so crazy these days; wrong seems to triumph over right, many people appear to be living only for themselves and so many aspects of my life are uncertain. In my times of solitude I draw deeply from the well of grace; from caverns of Living Water deep within the human soul and a testimony of the faith to which I hold fast. Solitude brings strength beyond human measure or fortitude. Solitude, like the light streaming across my bedroom, infuses hope in me, and reminds me that I am not alone.

When the day is done,
And there's no one else around;
While I'm lying here in bed,
You're in my heart, you're in my head,
You're all I need, you're all I need.
There are a million voices,
Calling out my name.
You're the One I want to hear,
So make the others disappear,
You're all I need, you're all I need.

You are all I need when I'm surrounded.
You are all I need when I'm by myself.
You fill me when I'm empty,
There is nothing else,
You're all I need.

When the morning comes,
And Your mercy is renewed,
There's a fire in my bones,
I'm not afraid to go alone,
You're all I need.
The sun on my face,
I hear You whisper loud,
You're still the One who opens seas,'
Every flower, even me,
You're all I need, You're all I need.

I'm drawn to everything that You do
And nothing, nothing compares to You.

You are all I need when I'm surrounded,
You are all I need when I'm by myself.
You fill me when I'm empty,
There is nothing else,
You're all I need.
You're all I need.

@kelsi87 Thank you Kelsi!
@sarasdadandmom Thank you Terry! It's the Orton effect in Picmonkey.
@lyoungs1023 Thank you Elizabeth!
@kerristephens Thank you Kerri!
@kimmistephens Thank you Kimmi!
@dmariewms Thank you Marie!
@smithak Thank you Smitha!
@beachradish Thank you Beachradish! I've been thinking about how to set this shot up for a few days- finally settled on this and got the perfect daylight for it.
@prttblues Thanks Bev! I had originally taken it in black and white, but it gave it a sad feeling so I switched it to the sepia and it was perfect for the feeling I wanted.
@digitalrn Thanks Rick!

It took me a minute or two to realise that you were sitting in the photo. This is so well composed Ann and I agree with you. Some people mistake solitude for feeling lonely. I quite like solitude, it brings peace and calmness.

@nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole! I didn't really want to do a selfie, but I had no one nearby to pose for me! hehe I didn't mind so much for this one since it's a profile.

Your words and your image fit perfectly. I used to enjoy being alone...but then I felt that I had too much alone time. I don't enjoy as much now....

Wow, great words & selfie!

Great shot ... you've manage to capture that feeling!
June 6th, 2012
@salza Thanks Sally! I had originally taken the shot in b/w but it made the picture too sad. So I switched to sepia and it changed the whole feel of it.
@sangwann Thanks Dione!
@zshadowwalker Thanks Adrian! I wanted that kind of feeling so I added just a little touch of the Orton effect in Picmonkey to achieve it.
@mhatch Thanks Mark!
@paulavdmerwe Thank you Paula!

@mrssmith Also meant to add I have to keep it in balance because if I'm alone too long it's just as unhealthy as never having any down time at all. I find for myself that I enjoy the solitude when I've been with people and I enjoy people when I've had times of solitude and that pretty goes for everything. I'm always looking for balance (which can also not be healthy depending on how obsessed you get with it!). I think it's a good thing for you to be seeking out people and enjoying things like the 365 get together you had in Indy. And you are absolutely right- there is such a thing as too much time alone.

So well expressed and your photo certainly tells a story. So lovely and the lighting and shadows are perfect.

Lovely glow to the picture and the sentiment. I read that there is a huge difference between being alone and being lonely and realised it's true and that's fine.

@1invisiblegrl Thank you Virginia! I heard this song while driving home in my car one day and it stuck in my head so I had to buy the CD! Glad you like both the song and the picture!
