While we were at the Nature Conservancy Wildlife Center last month we met two of the volunteers there (and I can't remember their names now!!). We were impressed with all the improvements that had been made after Hurricane Irene destroyed most of the pathway and flooded the pond just behind the dunes. Neither of them had seen the area before Irene and they asked if I might send them some of my pictures. Most of the pictures I had were close-ups of plants and waterfowl, but I did have one with a shot of the old pathway. I thought it would be interesting for them to see the pictures in a then and now format, so I made the above collage. The top shot was taken around 1997. The pathway often flooded, but on this particular visit, it made a nice wading pond for a Snowy Egret. The bottom shot is from our day trip this year.
@kerristephens Thanks Kerri! @mrssmith Thanks Carla- I think you'd really like it- a seaside town full of lovely Victorian homes made into B&B's! (And some modern motels too which is more in line with what Jeff and I used to be able to afford.)
@dmariewms Thanks Marie. Back then I didn't think about taking as many pictures as I do now- it was all film! I scanned the first picture into the computer to make the collage. @allie912 Thanks Allison! I don't know if they'll use it for that, but I think they'll have fun looking at the pictures at least.
@prttblues Thanks Bev! The top one is actually a photo that was scanned in to the computer. I've forgotten what its like to have thousands of pictures on hand- physically as compared to storing them digitally!

Thanks to all! Busy day ahead and I must run, but I will catch up on all your shots later!
Yes, it is a lovely corner of the world and Rick you & your family would love Cape May!
