Toy Story

I decided to go the sentimental route on this one.

Once upon a time, there was a little stuffed koala bear who came to live with a little boy named Christopher. The little boy loved to read with his "Ma-mom" and one of his favorite books was called "Little Bear", so he named his new friend, "Little Bear". Little Bear didn't always go everywhere Christopher went, but he was always there waiting for him on Christopher's bed every night. Little Bear would snuggle with Christopher while he read stories with his mom and he would watch over Christopher as he drifted off to sleep. Little Bear would always wake up every morning with Christopher and sometimes they would play together during the day, and sometimes not.

Even when Christopher got older, Little Bear stayed on the bed and once in a while he would sit on the book shelf, but he was never packed away or forgotten. As Christopher grew older, so did Little Bear and finally one day Ma-mom set him down with her childhood toys so that they could all be friends since Christopher lived in another place now.

Many years had gone by since Little Bear had watched over Christopher. He saw Christopher take a liking to soccer, make friends, learn to drive and go to college. And as all faithful toys do, he accepted the fact that Christopher moved on to build a home of his own after college.

Then one day, a new "friend" entered Christopher's life. Her name was Betsy, and she loved Christopher and he loved her. Not like the love he once had for Little Bear, something different; something special. Plans were made for Betsy and Christopher's wedding. Christopher and Ma-mom were going to share a special dance and Ma-mom (who was now just called "Mom") had just the song in mind! She remembered all the times she and Christopher had traveled for soccer and those trips reminded her of a song from the movie Toy Story. "Mom" told Christopher that "You've Got a Friend In Me" would be the song they'd dance to- nothing else! They learned a line dance, improvised some funny poses and expressions for the middle part of the song and everyone had fun watching them. You might think that this would be a fine ending to this story, but it's not over yet!

Betsy and Christopher's family grew from two to three when Isaac was born. Now "Mom" was "Grammy" and one day Grammy found a copy of the book all about Little Bear at a yard sale! She knew Isaac would probably like to read that book with his daddy and mommy. So she bought the book, found a picture of Christopher with Little Bear, and put them with Little Bear, so that the next time she visits Isaac, she can bring them all together.

And that's my Toy Story.

You've Got a Friend In Me
Words and music by Randy Newman

You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
When the road looks rough ahead
And you're miles and miles
From your nice warm bed
You just remember what your old pal said
Boy, you've got a friend in me
Yeah, you've got a friend in me

You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
If you've got troubles, I've got 'em too
There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you
We stick together and can see it through
Cause you've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me

Some other folks might be
A little bit smarter than I am
Bigger and stronger too
Maybe
But none of them will ever love you
The way I do, it's me and you
Boy, and as the years go by
Our friendship will never die
You're gonna see it's our destiny
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me

The End. (o:

And that was beautiful. Sophie has a little stuffed dog that we call Puppy pup and the whole family love him. He went missing for a few months but we found him under the bed at Nanny's house. Paige has a doll, called Dolly that goes everywhere with her and does she get cross if we don't say good morning to Dolly and ask how she slept!

@mrssmith Thanks Carla! I certainly got a bit teary when I pulled out that picture of Christopher from so long ago!
@nicolecampbell Thank you Nicole- that's precious! You will be treasuring those memories quicker than you think!

Thank you to all for indulging me and bearing with my nostalgia! I am in a "time passes so quickly" place lately! It's the result of life moving along as it does and somehow you just have to walk your way through it. But it's not always easy.
