When you live in a wooded region that has more critters than high rises, it really is a challenge to shoot a picture based on the style of a photographer who shoots cityscapes. But I put my thinking cap on and came up with a solution. I combined a shot from today- the light coming through a pierced tin lantern which was reminiscent of Luxemburg's night shots and a shot from my trip to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. I put the two together to reflect Luxemburg's fascination with long exposure night shots of buildings and other night lights. Hopefully this captures the spirit of her photography although not a literal replica of it.
Thank you Paula, Diane, Kerri, Tanja, and Maggie. I'm happy with the way this turned out. I don't know if it will qualify since the one picture is not current, but I wanted to at least give it a try.
@digitalrn Thank you Rick! @granny7 Thank you Linda! @allie912 Thanks Allison- I was unfamiliar with her work as well. Thankfully the folks who set these challenges up always include links where you can see the artist's work! @groovygirlrn Thank you Sheri! @salza Thanks Sally! @sangwann Thank you Dione! @filsie65 Thanks Phil! You are probably not as fooled as you think. The orange-red dots and dashes are the current photo of the lantern. The blue-green "windows" are a picture of a sculpture in the museum. It was made to look like an office building and filmstrips of office windows were stretched across it from side to side to make it look like it was lit up at night. I do not remember the artist otherwise I'd give them credit.
@eniaral Thank you Laraine! As you well know there is a shortage of high rises in the Poconos. @automaticslim Thanks Andy! Had to improvise for a cityscape since we are in a more rural area. @henrir Thanks Henri!
@summerfield Thank you Vikki! I would have liked to capture a shot more like hers- I do love cities at night with all the lights! But the tallest building around her is only 3 stories high! So I wasn't going to be getting near any high rises. Oh well, I like the way this worked out.
