Probably came from constant dripping - good to see!

@kerristephens Thank you Kerri!
@maggiemae Thanks Maggie- yes, I think you're right.
@glendq Thank you Glenda! It was really bright today and I had a hard time seeing what was in the view finder, so I'm pleased that I captured them.
@sarasdadandmom Thanks Terry!
@digitalrn Thanks Rick!
@dakotaburns Thank you Donald! Had another shot where the ice is completely coating the plant. Might post that one tomorrow.
@pflaume Thank you Lisa!

Cool, no church here...we are stranded.
February 11th, 2013
The black and white makes them look extra cold! I don't think any church in the state was open here today!
February 11th, 2013
Very pretty, nice b&w :-)

Beauties indeed but Brrr! We woke up to snow this morning, thankfully just about an inch. (Enough to cause total chaos).
February 11th, 2013
Wow, they are impressive
February 11th, 2013
Wonderful detail within the icicles. Makes me chilly just looking at them!
February 11th, 2013
So impressive. Must be very cold for them not to melt.

@httpgeffed @sparkleplenty1 @vposey @filsie65 @nicolecampbell @salza @sangwann

Thank you Colleen, Joyce, Vickie, Phil, Nicole, Sally and Dione!

So sorry to hear you're snowed in Colleen and Joyce- your areas were hit much harder than ours and we didn't get as much as they expected.

Yes, to all, it was cold here and only the spots where the sun was intense did we have any sort of melting action. These had a little bit of a drip, but not much. Today we've got freezing rain, so there'll be plenty more where these came from!

Great shot!
February 11th, 2013
this is even better viewed in magnified form!

@paulavdmerwe @eniaral

Thank you Paula!
Thank you Laraine! (Yes- compared all my icicle shots in full screen before I chose this one!)

very nice look.

Bev
Nice shot! I've always done icicles in color! I will have to copy your idea! I like the texture. It also makes me shiver a bit! well done! :)
February 11th, 2013
Very nice capture.
February 12th, 2013
wow! some secret weapons you got there, ann! those things are dangerous. :-)
February 12th, 2013
@fullcircle thank you Cindy!
@prttblues thanks Bev! I was shooting the clock tower in b/w for the Feb. challenge and thought why not give the icicles a try in b/w too?
February 12th, 2013
One of the best icicle pictures I've seen just recently. Nice work Ann, the processing in particular.
February 12th, 2013
@automaticslim Thank you Andy! A little cropping and straightening (the morning was so bright I couldn't see the image in the screen) as I really can't stand crooked photos! In the end it strengthened the picture by pulling the icicles even closer. I hanging over the manse's porch to shoot them!
February 12th, 2013
Excellent capture and perfect in b & w.
February 12th, 2013
@cimes1 Thanks Carole! Normally I'd shoot them in color but I'd been taking pictures of the clock tower in b/w and didn't switch the camera back at first. I like that bit of unexpectedness in that you'd normally see them in color but here they are in b/w.
