I only had a few moments to wander around the yard after my photography book club exercise today, but I discovered a new mushroom growing in my backyard! It's a good thing I took the picture when I did because a little while later when I went out to put a box on our burn pile, I noticed someone had nibbled their tops off!
I do think this is brother and sister mushroom - so delicate and growing upwards together to find out what the world is about! Then some pesky nibbles comes along!
very nice find, ann. the mushrooms i find around the park here in the city look like something out of a dog or cat. partner assures me all the time they're mushrooms but i won't get down lest something jumps out at me.

It was probably a White-tailed Deer Yao. I saw a mama and her two babies back there in the mid-afternoon.
