I bought some more sunflowers from the vegetable lady today. Who can resist them?? I had so many good shots it was hard to choose which one to post. In the end I opted to go with one that's slightly different from the norm but illustrates another principal I read in Patterson's book: side-lighting reveals the texture of a surface more than front or back lighting; light coming in from the side, half-way between the back or the front usually brings out the texture best. I like the way this shot makes me feel like I could stick my hand in there and pluck off a few seeds from the center.

I love these flowers....they can't take a bad picture, you know what I mean? They are just too lovely and exude happiness all over :) wonderful focus on the detailed center!
Great shot, Ann! It's perfect! I love the angle. You can see the detail and the depth and love the focus and light. Perfect job! I should have tried this angle with my sunflower! It's beautiful! Well done :)
