Bridge and Tower by Marc- Editing by Me

Marc asked me for my thoughts on one of his photos. After leaving him a comment as long as War and Peace I decided it might be fun to play around with his shot and use some of my suggestions as to what I'd do with this picture. So here it is Marc. What do you think?
Here's the link to Marc's shot:

What do you think Marc? @jmrittle

Bev
It looks a lot better without the cars. Nice job playing with it. I hope he likes it.

Beautiful

Yep, I agree about the cars! In fact, the cars may be why I didn't go with this shot in the first place. Then the bridge dominated - as you say destroyed the rule of thirds I originally had going. All in all, nice solution. Like the vignette too :)

@prttblues Thanks Bev! As you can see- he's a good sport.
@kerristephens Thanks Kerri- although I have to say, it's really not my shot!
@jmrittle Thanks Marc! I was "practicing what I preach". Glad you like the vignette- although shot looks just fine without it too. Did you notice that I took out part of the light post too?

@olivetreeann This bridge will make another appearance this summer, I promise!

@jmrittle I'll look for it!

Beautiful shot. The bridge makes a great leading line.

Over all a challenging shot to compose. Nice job

@daisymiller @digitalrn @vesna0210

Thank you Daisy, Rick and Vesna. Marc was heading in the right direction with his shot. I didn't alter his composition too much. I played more with taking the cars and pole out more than anything else.

did you have to drive all the cars away, ann? :-) great job on making them disappear.

Wow, great processing, Ann! I'd still like to see Marc's take in the morning light!

What do you use for processing, Ann? @olivetreeann And which would u recommend for a total newbie at processing?? I only use Picasa at present but am considering ........

@summerfield Thank you Vikki! LOL I drove them away with my "magic eraser"!

@kwiksilver Thank you Gillian! I am still learning a lot about processing too. I really experiment with it a lot until I get the look I'm thinking of. But for this shot, I was just trying to improve what Marc wanted to improve. There are several user-friendly on-line processing sites that I use (they are all free). The one I use the most is called Ribbet (Ribbet.com). There are tutorials on the site if you need them, but I find it pretty self-explanatory. I also like using iPiccy for collages and BeFunky when I want to turn the photo into something that looks like a painting. Since you are an ACE member you can also use PicMonkey which is a lot like Ribbet. To do that upload your shot to 365 and after it's been uploaded you can click on "Edit Photo with PIcMonkey" under Photo Details. Once you are finished you save the photo and the edited version will show up in your album. Lastly you can purchase some of the pricier programs like Photo Shop and Lightroom and download them into your computer, but I have heard mixed reactions to how friendly they are to use. They were a little too high for my limited budget. But a follower here on 365 suggested I look into Smart Photo Editor which I did. It was priced very reasonably and has thousands of effects you can just add to your photo with very little work. So I did purchase that and now have some things to learn while I'm using it. For the first time I'll probably use the tutorials so that I really understand what I can do with the program! As far as being a "newbie" goes, I'd say start out with the free ones and use them for a while. I think they offer enough tools to work with so that you can be creative and experiment without breaking the bank in the process. Even though I have the one down-loaded in my computer, I still use he freebies as well. Each one has something special in it. Have fun and please feel free to ask questions at any time!
