I've been busy entertaining Leigh so I didn't have time to check out who made this fascinating piece of architecture and although it might not be the "building" you'd expect to see when you hear that word in the course of a conversation, this structure is amazingly built and home to some pretty active inhabitants. I had to keep my distance to take this shot, hence a slightly shaky focus. But with a little post-processing (to make up for yesterday's ban on it!) has come to the rescue.
Forgive me as I'm terribly behind and will be so for the next week. Family visits, 365 meet-ups! and other activities will keep my appearances and comments spotty. But you know me, I'll be getting back on track asap!
Those look like Yellow Jackets! Very nasty bees!!! Well - all bees are nasty though aren't they? Except Bumble Bees (but they sting, too!!) and now that I've seen one a Hummingbird Bee (but they probably sting too and by the look of the size of the bee itself I bet it hurts a lot too!!). Great capture of the nest and the bee on the outside as well as that one just on the inside. I'd be shaking too if I was taking this shot but then I'm not brave enough. Yes, I'm crazy, insane, etc. But I couldn't get shot like this!! Nope. That's your job. And a job well done... Wow. That was a long comment. I've had a lot of caffeine today. Okay. I'm going to bed now. Night night.
of course it's architecture. been busy looking for something like this at the back of the building but partner and landlord recently did a major cleaning on the building's exterior so i was out of luck. glad you posted this!
i'm all set for saturday!!
My thanks to you all! I am finally catching up on comments! Bev is right- these are Yellow Jackets and they are nasty!!
