Very cute and a great capture and framing.
Thank you for you nice visit and great comment. Can I ask how you`re related with our country ? You `re always very welcome , yes please, but I`ve a little warning to you. Don`t expect to find a country like I show you.
My pic.`s are a big lie. I show our country the way I like it to be. I even retouch that what I don`t like or don`t wanted to be there.

@pyrrhula Thank you Pyrrhula! I have Dutch blood from my father's mother's side. Her maiden name was Conover, but that is the "Americanized" version of VonCovenhoven. They came to the States in the 1600's and (I will have to look this up if you want to know the name) one or two of my ancestors were in the original colony of New Amsterdam. I do have in my family collection somewhere the name of the town where most of my family came from and I'd have to pull out the family tree material to find it. But I've always thought in my mind that someday I would like to go see "where we began" both from my grandmother (Conover) and my grandfather (Hamilton- Scottish) on my father's side. My married name- LeFevre is French but we don't know a great deal about my husband's line except that his great great grandfather sailed from Paris to Quebec and then traveled down into the States. My mother's side is a bit sketchy too- we have Hoster which I think is German, and Jones which I was told is Welsh, but who really knows! And my mother's mother was Hudson but I do not have any information on her (long story!). By now you can see that I am a true American- a melting pot of many cultures that came to the New World and made a life here. And as far as touching up the pictures- most people do that! You might look at my pictures and think I live in a beautiful area- and yes I do, but right across the street our neighbor has two dilapidated old cars rusting away in the driveway! I just don't take pictures in that direction! I am not a world traveler, but I know enough to know that every country has places of beauty and places which are far from beautiful. But still, I wish I had more means to travel- I do like seeing different places- and of course, taking pictures of them! So maybe someday we will meet, who knows?!

@olivetreeann Thank you very much for you franc and nice letter. It`s nice to know the history of you family. I try to but did n`t came as far as you. Before Napoleon conquers there was no public records of persons. Only churches did by baptism, marriage and dead. If they moved it`s hard to find out to where, From my Dad`s side I know until 1820. My mother came from Germany in the 1930 th. From her family we don`t know much about. I`ve been a sailor for more then ten years . After that I did n`t travel any more. But I `ve moved 15 years ago from the NE part to the SW part of our country. As we did have a big flood in 1952 there are not many real old buildings left. They are all restaurated. And we have laws that forbid to have junks on or near streets. ( Even the color of you house need permission) If it is visible you `ve to remove/destroy it.
If ever it will happend we meet , well that will be the day. Looking forward to it.

@pyrrhula I thought you would enjoy a little bit of this history. Gerrit Wolpertse Van Kouenhoven arrived in New Netherlands with his father about 1630 and resided in Flatlands Long Island, where he was magistrate in 1644. He was born in Amersfoort around 1610 and died in Flatlands in 1645. From Flatlands our family spread out other counties in NY as well as into New Jersey. Most of those who stayed in NY kept the name Kouwenhoven but the New Jersey branch eventually adopted the spelling "Conover". Somewhere in my papers is the exact number of generations between he and I but I think he is my great, great, great, great, grandfather. Maybe five greats- I'm not sure! I will have to keep looking for it. But at any rate, now I know the name of my ancestral town- Amersfoort. It sounds like you have a wonderful history too- even if some of it remains slightly hidden.
