Our camera club had a meet-up on Friday at a place where the Monroe County Cruisers hang out. We had so much fun photographing the classic cars and going out for ice cream afterwards. I caught this fellow in a candid moment and thought it was rather funny that he had blue-suede sneakers. He looked right for the era except for the cell-phone!
I love your processing on this shot. You seem to have the background as a more sepia tone leading to the bright tones of the car and the blue suede shoes. Really fabulous work!
@taffy Thanks Taffy! Yes, that's exactly what I was going for. I didn't want to do black and white- it was too dull and detracted from the vintage/50's feel. Discovered an effect in my photo processing program called "girl friend" (of all things!) which gave the shot a sepia tone overall and a darker vignette around the edges. I painted the car and fellow back in and then applied a softening effect to the background (and painted the car and fellow back in a second time). I might have applied low color first to further the separation of the background and subject but I'm not sure now! This was one of those pictures I spent more time on than I thought I would but was very happy that I did when I was finished.
@summerfield Thanks Vikki! That's what caught my eye. That and the shoes!
