I took this shot in 2009 while Jeff and I were visiting Cape May, NJ. Cape May is noted for its Victorian homes, many of which have been turned into quaint B & B's. Each house is decorated in Victorian "ginger bread" embellishments and painted with elaborate color schemes.
For the final run of Architectural August I decided I would post shots of different homes in my archives. I was inspired by all the unique homes I saw while Jeff and I were out on Saturday looking at cars. No luck on the car front, but lots of fun drive-by photos shot from Jeff's van!
Thank you Julia, Lindy, Bev, D S, Nicole, Margo, Katy, Kelley, Hamora, Jane, Nina, Sally, and Jim!
@nicolecampbell Yes, Nicole- I could see you absolutely loving Cape May. There are lots of artsy shops, great places to eat, fun seaside things for the family (like miniature golf), good ice cream places and the scenery is beautiful. The B & B's are beautiful, but there are also some very nice motels with what we call "efficiency apartments"- they have a mini-kitchen for stove-top cooking and easy meals. There are some nice wild-life places and historic sites too. Lots to do- and if you want something a little more exciting, just a little ways up the coast is Wildwood- with a boardwalk much like the one you just posted pictures of.
you know, this picture looks like those cross stitch patterns i did many years ago. wonder how it is to live in a house like that. plumbing and heating considering.
What a splendid looking house. The decking and posts are a lovely feature. I like how they have the blue colouring picking up all over the house. It looks great on black too.
@jennywren Thanks Jenn! If you can imagine a whole town of these, each having its own color scheme and "gingerbread" (the lattice and scroll work on the porches and eaves) then you are "seeing" Cape May!
