Glass Hat by olivetreeann

Glass Hat

Did some macro shooting today. This is a little antique glass hat that came from my grandmother's house. I think the pattern is called "buttons and bows"- but don't quote me on that!
I love antique glass, and your photo captures this piece so well. Nice light and colors.

Oooo, this is lovely! What a treasure you have from your Grandmother's house, and you captured it beautifully. I collect both antique and contemporary glass. I'm drawn to the way he light plays on it as you show here in your pretty photo.

@eudora Thank you Diane!
@grammyn Thank you Katy! This macro lens was a gift and I'm really enjoying it!
@janetb Thank you Janet! Is this the Buttons and Bows pattern? I know it has a specific name but I don't remember if that's it.

@olivetreeann It looks like the Buttons and Bows pattern to me (which I've also heard referred to as Daisy and Button), but I'm no expert. I love the pretty yellow...my favorite color. It's beautiful, Ann.

My mom had one in pale pink glass, not sure pattern names but she always filled it with toothpicks

That is very sweet, is it a candle holder?

@nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole- no, I'm not sure what it held, if anything. I think it's purely decorative. My grandmother used to have a bay window full of cut glass- I've always wished I could have one- but it would be way too expensive to change out the window in our living room. But I do have glass in the window at least and that's where this little fellow is.
