My latest play-around with the album cover challenge.
Artist: The Pyramid of Unas- a smooth-sided pyramid built in the 24th c. B.C. for the Egyptian Pharaoh Unas. It was not excavated until 1887 and contains some of the best examples of religious texts from the Old Kingdom.
The title comes from a quote by Novalis (5/12/1772- 3/25/1801): There is but one Temple in the world and that is the Body of Man. Nothing is holier than this high form. Bending before a man is a reverence done to this Revelation in the Flesh. We touch heaven when we lay our hands on the human body.
Novalis was an author, philosopher and poet in the early German Romanticism movement. He was born George Philip Frederich von Hardenberg but changed his name as a reference to his forefathers who were known as de Novale (the land-cleaners).
Yes, I took a little liberty with the title- but it was just too good a phrase not to use!
