Come January 2020 one of the galleries our photo club exhibits in will be holding a jurried show called "Yearning to Breathe Free~ Immigration, An American Story" and submissions are due soon so I've begun noodling around with some ideas in my head. The exhibit title is taken from a line in Emma Lazarus' well-known poem, The New Colussus" which was written specifically for the base upon which the Statue of Liberty stands. In reality, that is not the official name of the sculpture which graces NY harbor. It's "Liberty Enlightening the World". And did you know that Lady Liberty is actually located in New Jersey? She is! But enough history. I can't decide if this will be what I submit or not. I don't know if I want the colors more faded or the statue and flag deeper in the background with the poem bolder in front, or even a larger portion of the flag...I guess that means I'll be going back to the processing board at some point!
Love your submission the poem with the Statue of Liberty and flag are great together. Interesting words which are still appropiate for the times we live in. Fav
