Sometimes you go out to shoot with a certain idea in mind and then, you can't take it because a lady has decided to talk on her cellphone and push the baby carriage around the parking lot where you planned to take the shot. sigh... I was about to give up on the reflection shot I was going to take "in the style of Saul Leiter" when I realized a different shot "in the style of Saul Leiter" was presenting itself to me. Thankfully this woman was so engrossed in her phone conversation she didn't see me with my T3i taking pictures of her in the side mirror of my car! Leiter may have brought the subject in a little closer, but I really wanted to avoid drawing attention to myself and getting out of the car to get closer to the mirror might have been a little too obvious! All in all, I'm pleased with this and I think the colors are reminiscent of his earlier color work that was only recently discovered.
I am ashamed to say I dont know the artist. But I had a quick look online and was instantly impressed especially when I read his saying "I don't have a philosophy I have a camera" I might use that next time someone asks me what my type of photography is. "I don't have a type, I have a camera". That should work. Anyway, back to your capture. I think it is a great shot that coloured wall behind is a wonderful part of the composition
@joansmor LOL That's what you do after you rethink the shot you thought you'd be taking and come up with a new shot to take. (o;
@helenhall I had not heard of him before the artist challenge either- but I really liked his color work and the reflections he captured in store windows. Great quote!
