Myself and some of my co-workers had to be certified for CPR and other emergency medical care (VERY minor stuff!) last night and this is what greeted us when we walked into the classroom!
@ludwigsdiana Thanks Diana- I can't go on my knees either (I would in an emergency but since this wasn't one...) so they allowed me to raise mine up on a chair to practice.
@onewing I totally agree with you on that!! Good to see you back Babs!
@maggiemae Yes, very valuable- I'm glad I was able to take this class. Thanks Maggie!
@kjarn It was really strange to walk in the room and see them displayed this way! Thanks Kathy!
@swchappell Thanks Sw- I recall in he past you used to practice on other classmates. This makes it much easier but it does look a bit strange to walk into a classroom and see them on the floor!
@haskar Thank you Haskar- that's a great testimony as to how important it is to know this.
@grammyn Thanks Katy! I wrote that tag just for you because I know you read them!
@wendyfrost Thank you Wendy! One thing the instructor advised us to do was to mentally practice the steps every day so that they stayed fresh in our minds. I thought that was good advice and will be doing it just as he suggested.
i was taken aback when i saw this photo. the thought of so many babies then i looked and saw they were dummies. i am scheduled for a recertification in april. i like attending cpr and first aid classes. we always get a really fun instructor. so far, i've used my cpr skills just once and it was emotionally and physically tiring. once, a conference was being held at the office after hours where the keynote speaker was a former prime minister of canada. an attendee just fell off his chair and lost consciousness. people were milling around him and they were thinking of moving the person outside of the conference room so the speech could go on. when i arrived i told them to give the man space and asked everyone to leave the room. they looked at me like i had 5 heads, and at the man like he was an inconvenience. i was employing the ABC steps when the man fortunately gained consciousness and after making sure he was fine and can walk out of the room, we assisted him out to the reception area where the paramedics had arrived and attended to him. i thought i was going to be called to HR because i heard murmurs that i was rude and who did i think i was! but only a memo commending my efforts arrived the next day.
This knowledge saves lives. It is especialy important in war. War starts by president of state. My suggestion is: Every man which want to be president of any country need to have good psyhological test!
@randystreat Thanks Kathy- we will have to be recertified in 2024. Things will probably change by then too.
@summerfield Wow- I hope that never happens to me but it's great to know that in the end someone appreciated what you did!
@vesna0210 I can't disagree with that! And I think those who take office in this country- all of them!- should be required to memorize the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Thank you Vesna!
@carole_sandford I am hearing so many testimonies of those who had the training and had to use it. It's definitely a valuable resource. Thanks Carole!

@hjbenson Thanks Harry- and I agree.
@mittens Thank you Marilyn- and yes you don't see it everyday- unless you're one of the American Heart Assoc. folks who teach it! lol
@ljmanning Thanks Laura! Wow- I should have saved it for the Six Word Story challenge!
@summerfield Wow- I hope that never happens to me but it's great to know that in the end someone appreciated what you did!
