Since we don't watch them, and therefore we do not have a favorite, we decided to pay tribute to a tribute on one of Miss Ann's favorite TV shows- Murder She Wrote. The show's star, Angela Lansbury, used her movie connections one season and shot an episode in the house which was used in Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. Several scenes in the episode were combined with actual footage from the movie with the appropriate screeching violins.
I do not like horror movies and can't watch them. I get the images stuck in my head and I can't get them out for the longest time. I find these films make people fearful and anxious. But someone chose this theme for the week, so here I am trying to come up with a happy compromise. I suppose this is one of the most iconic horror movie scenes (next to the shower scene which I've never watched and never will!) and even though we were just pretending, the Critters were certainly spooked! http://365project.org/365toygroup/365/2015-06-03
FYI: MSW aired "Incident in Lot 7" on January 19, 1992.
I think people like them for the same reason people like roller coasters. This is a fabulously scary picture ... so evocative of opening a door to something scary (in movie or in life or...)
@grammyn Thanks Katy! I'm only going off what I know about this movie, because I really haven't seen it (other than the few clips featured in that TV show!). I didn't want to blow off the theme, even though I wasn't crazy about it, so I'm glad my processing accomplished the scary movie feel as well as everyone thought it did.
I watched some Murder, She Wrote on Netflix a few weekends ago. Love it. Scary movies to me are not usually scary. I mean, they are a little because you let yourself be scared, because you like it. I have often gone with friends and we scream and hoot and holler and grab on to each other and then LAUGH most of the time...so they are fun to me....
@digitalrn Thanks Rick! @espyetta Thanks Marybeth! You are an exception to most the people I know. But that's good for you if it's fun. It's just not my "cup of tea". So I wanted to attempt the picture even though I don't watch them and Murder She wrote came to mind. That's as gory and scary as I get! haha not so gory or scary!
