Even though I wasn't feeling too good yesterday I went up to Anna Bay to see what the ocean was like.
After a beautiful start to Spring the weather turned so cold on Friday and Saturday and we have had wild winds. Luckily today it has calmed down again, but still rather chilly.
You can see just how wild the weather was in this photo. In fact on Friday evening around 6 pm a helicopter went down in the strong winds quite close to this area of Anna Bay. Apparently there were no survivors. The helicopter was en route from Brisbane to Sydney. It stopped at Port Macquarie to refuel and it is a pity it didn't stay there the night. They have found the wreck of the helicopter but the weather was so bad they weren't able to retrieve it yesterday.
Beautiful view of the ocean. Would love to be there. What are your temperatures like right now there? I'm in Canada, so being cold is different for me.
While the wind makes the waves like amazing in this shot it is definitely a force to be respected. I'm sorry to read about the loss of life due to the helicopter crash.
@nicolecampbell I can imagine how cold it must have been in Canberra.
@louannwarren It really was wild weather Lou Ann. On Friday afternoon the temperature was 28 degrees C and then the wind whipped up and it dropped to about 13 degrees very rapidly. I think the helicopter pilot was experienced and I suspect that when he left Brisbane the weather would have been fine. It changed so rapidly. They refueled at Port Macquarie about 250 km from here and maybe they should have grounded the helicopter there.
@creativenature72 I suspect that your 'cold' is much colder than ours, but on Friday afternoon the temperature was about 28 degrees c and then the wind whipped up and the cool change arrived. It dropped to about 13 degrees c, so quite a change for us. It is about 16 c today after a low of 11 last night. So quite chilly for our Spring.
@onewing wow...that would be cold for you guys for sure. Those are temperatures we are normally getting for our fall days right now except we are in single digits at night.
Lovely shot. So sad to hear about the helicopter. We had to divert today because of a cycling accident which looked dreadful. I do wish these sorts of things didn't happen.
Great powerful shot.
Looks amazingly blowy and wild here. Hope you feel brighter tomorrow.

The weather was really wild. I almost got blown off the dunes. Needless to say I didn't stay long.
They have found one of the rotor blades from the helicopter and I think they know where the wreckage is but I haven't heard if it has been retrieved yet.
The helicopter was hired for a trip to Sydney from Brisbane (about 900 km) and I suspect that when they left Brisbane the weather wasn't too bad. It was only once they reached our area that it got quite wild. We thought we were about to lose some of the trees on our property because the wind was so strong.
