It's the middle of the night and I am wide awake so I thought I would check out some of the many photos I took today. Spoilt for choice as we did not stop all day. The Chicago Art Institute first with Rosie and I stopping of at The Bean on our way to the meet up. So much to see and so many photos taken. We saw the Tiffany Domes and the Chagall windows and so many other stunningly beautiful things its all a bit mixed up in my brain at the moment!! What a wonderful day seeing Chicago in the sunshine and then finally Tripod Monday in the Hancock Building on the 94th floor. We saw the setting sun lighting up the beautiful buildings and then finally as it got dark the lights of the city came on. This is my first time taking night time city scapes and there was a lot of trial and error. It was slight struggle with inside lights reflected in the windows but I did manage to et a few shots I was pleased with. So here we have it - The View - this is what I came to Chicago to see and photograph!!
One very happy bunny!!
Oh I forgot to mention we walked over 13 thousand steps today and yes I am very stiff and achy - but it was so worth it!! I may not be able to get out of bed in the morning!! LOL!!
Please look on black if you have time as it is so much better!!
Too excited & overtired to sleep I expect Pam! Sounds like you're having a wonderful time! Beautiful view but I am surprised that apart from the one high rise building at the front the vista of buildings is so level. If you had turned round it's probably not like that as I'm sure there are many tall & majestic constructions.
What a fabulous view Pam. No wonder you are still awake in the middle of the night. Our brains take in so many different experiences on holidays like this and it doesn't have time to relax. Well worth being awake for with this beautiful shot. fav.
Fab view and capture Pam, it's difficult to get the right exposure with city lights and you've done a great job here. So glad you're having a good time. Jet lag is such a problem sometimes,
Wonderful nightscape. I leaned a technique in my digital scrapping class where you apply a gradient map and it just makes the picture soar. Wish I had a picture like this to try it on. Hope everyday of your trip is a 10.
Crikey Pam, what a day you had. I would neither make it that far, nor be able to stand up in the morning. My undercarriage is cactus thanks to my crook hip. Wonderful detail in the lights and lines in this shot, very interesting and lots to look at. Well done with this night shot, I've not attempted anything like it.
Terrific Pam! You've caught iconic rooftops of some of the skyscrapers as well as the sense of the canyons of roads
Pat, I had to smile at your comment...the buildings all do look so small, don't they! On the 95th floor, we were towering above them all -- no matter what the direction we'd look. For example, one of the 'small' ones (with the pointed green roof) is probably 70 floors tall at least. It's quite dizzying up there! @happypat
@taffy My word you were high! I never gave it a thought that it was flat because you were higher than all the other buildings! Must Google The Hancock building.
