2016 06 06 The Wood Carver

As we walked in the country park yesterday we could hear a chainsaw in action. We came across the wood carver who was teaching a young art student how to make an owl with a chainsaw. I had a chat with them and then spotted the two owls on the wood to the side. I just had to have one and luckily Barbara my sister had some money on her!! So another birthday present!! The smaller of the owls came home with us. It was made the day before and had had one coat of clear varnish. I have given it another coat today and will do one more tomorrow. The black head you can see is a likeness of one of the Easter Island Heads. He said he will be putting white on it today and it will look more like concrete.
Such a nice man and so very talented. I love my owl who will have pride of place in my garden.

Many thanks for your comments and favs on my images - so very much appreciated!!
I like the way you've set this up to tell the story.

Great collage and story. I am very impressed when I see carvings like this done with a chain saw. I have enough trouble just cutting wood with our chain saw for our wood burner fire.

We have some wood carvings in the village but I have never seen who does them. They are along the cycle track at the edge of the woods. Nice collage

@Weezilou I have been giving my owl a couple of coats of clear varnish to protect him from the weather. When it is dry I will take a proper photo of him. I think he will look great in the garden!!
