2016 06 14 Baz the Cockatoo

Sarah and I visited Rosie today and we took her out to lunch. She has had an operation on her foot and cannot drive for six weeks. Thankfully she seems to be recovering well and although she has a large boot on her foot she manages to get around on her crutches quite well. It was lovely to get together with Rosie and Sarah and catch up on our news and of course chat about our trip to Chicago.

I was so pleased to meet Rosie's cockatoo Baz. I never realised that you could cuddle a bird. LOL!! What a sweetheart he is. Needless to say Finlay would not be welcome at Rosie's!! LOL!!

Many thanks for your lovely comments on yesterday's shots - very much appreciated.
@rosiekind @pixiemac I couldn't resist a few iPhone shots of gorgeous Baz!!

I have had cuddle time with my birds for nearly thirty years, but the cockatoo never got along with me, the macaw's are more my babies.

He looks like a real character! Does he talk?

I'm not a fan of cockies, but this one looks pretty tame. Great shots.

@golftragic He's a big old softie Marnie who loves nothing more than being cuddled and fussed. You can do anything with him and he's just so gentle and NEVER pecks but he does like licking you if he gets the chance! LOL

@888rachel Only in cockatoo language but we have taught him how to wolf whistle and when he wants our attention but doesn't want to shout to get it, he will often sit and whistle really sweetly

I love this triptych of Baz and it certainly deserves a big Fav. You did well to get shots of him without him running off too fast! It was lovely to see you both yesterday

@rosiekind OMG, never known a softie cockie. The ones I'm used to destroy large chunks of foliage and up to small branches, chew on soft timber in people's houses and, on our farm, strip the insulation off wires.
