Future Dreams 2

I usually post pictures of the parts of my home that I am thankful for. I love the place I live and the cozy memories we have created here, but I am thinking of dreams I have for the future, and Thankful they are dreams I have a chance of making come true one day.

This is the side of my house, It is a strange house which was originally a lot of one room cabins used as barracks at a redwood logging camp in the late 1800's. Then two cabins were left and joined by a third room built between them, then gradually a couple bedrooms and a storage closet added upstairs, a kitchen, bathroom and dining room downstairs. Then this room which was like a long porch and then enclosed. Some of the construction was done professionally and carefully and some thrown together as owners changed over the century and a half.

My dream is to someday be able to either repair or tear down and replace this so I have insulation and a house that doesn't actually get to 44*s F overnight in the winter. When you realize it is colder in your kitchen than in your refrigerator, in spite of space heaters and a wood stove, you learn to live in layers.
How interesting. I loved your photo and narrative ... what fun memories of how your home came to be. I hope your dream comes true .... go for it!

You live in a house with history! It's good to have plans and dreams. My feeling is, if a person doesn't plan....nothing gets done.

is this what you call a true "house plant"?!

Great idea for the future dream challenge. Those temps are cold inside or outside. I like the blue color.

Well my friend, if you love it and call it home , then thats good enough. Hope you can make those repairs and upgrades soon and make it even nicer for you.

you know, my mother always told us: what's the point of a big and beautiful house if there's no love in it? i'd rather live in a run-down hut but bursting with love and respect. well, that's the approximate translation. but this is a nice photo, especially that shade of blue, and a do-able dream, too!

Brrrr- but you know I agree with Vikki- it's better to have a rickety house full of love than a gorgeous mansion with none. You are a very wealthy woman Dixie Dawn Goode and it blesses my heart to see how much you know it!
