I am grateful for the many times that I have been able to travel. My boys and I got to volunteer at a school in Guatemala for awhile. I am also grateful I don't have to carry everything uphill the way the Mayans there in Santiago Atitlan did. The women on their heads, the men from a carry strap across their forehead.
Mondays in Thankful for the past using older pictures, so I chose to put these in a collage because I loved the time and the people and the Memories I carry as my Guatemala burden, which is no burden at all but a beautiful thing to carry with me.
the women in the old country are also good at carrying things on their head. it's a wonder that most of them, once their burden is off their heads, have really bad posture; they seem like two different animals with and without their loads. great collage, dixie, and they're all very interesting photos, too!
Great collage Dixie. My wife and I had the opportunity to tavel to Guatemala once to help take clothing and medical supplies as well as gifts for children at Christmas time. It was an amaing trip that we will never forget
@bkbinthecity I had a 9 and a 10 year old with me and my brother with Down's syndrome. It made people very willing to let their children approach me and to talk to me themselves.
The Spanish teacher in the school where I taught is very involved with a mission in Guatemala. She brought many of the students there on mission trips. They always returned with the words, "Next year when I go back...".
