Kid Town by pandorasecho

Kid Town

We have four of these playgrounds in a 120 mile radius of where we live. The communities have an assembly and the man asks the kids what they ant in their playground, and then he goes home, designs the playground, including a list of what kind of wood lasts in the weather and how many of each length of wood, each nut and bolt and chain needed. Then he sends a list of fundraisers that have been successful in other areas and once you have the money and the community volunteers for labor he comes back and in 3 days you build it. This one was built when my boys were babies 20 year ago and the upkeep needed is basically a fresh cot of sealant or a truckload of woodchips or a replaced piece of hardware but he is right, the Port Orford cedar is still looking great.

Thankful for man-made things on November Wednesdays. Also thankful for my husband and my son's girlfriend and her daughter, pictured here
We helped build one of these in the town we lived in years ago. Our oldest son was able to play on it for a few years before we moved. Our town now never had one, so I think it totally depends on the community. But I remember that we had a blast helping build it and it was a very nice playground (and probably still is). Great picture!

Good shot. Good perspective. What a wonderful thing the playground planner and builder does.

Great playground! Jeff and I designed and built ( a much, much smaller version!) a jungle gym for our boys a long time ago. They loved it and were climbing on it everyday. This is the kind of thing both my grandsons would love now. Nice shot- like the vantage point.
