Spent some time at a wonderful park where many species of birds flock together. Most of them I couldn't identify (including this guy), but I do know we saw Canada geese, Mallards and mudhens.
I attempted to ID this bird but the leg color doesn't match a Great Egret (those are black according to what I've found) and nothing else I've found looks like this bird as far as coloring. This one had a yellow bill and grayish legs and also feet as far as I could tell.
Any ideas?
I approached very slowly and was able to get to within 10-12 ft. Then he put those long legs into motion and gracefully put some distance between us.
What a fantastic photo. I have seen similar birds but not sure what this is. Very cool as you captured it walking so you got to see the entire bird. Ones I have seen similar to this are usually up in trees. FAV
