Water Splash 3 by pcoulson

Water Splash 3

I decided to have another try at freezing water motion using my low tech approach and a patriotic background reflected onto the clear water.
what I learned from this shot was after setting the camera on manual focus at 1/125 sec, f14 at ISO 400 and firing my off camera flash directly at the background I got exactly the same shape almost every time, the marble bubble is travelling vertically upward in this shot.
you must have really quick reflexes Peter..
love the sunburst on the side of the marble.. Perfect clarity of detail and great depth of colour, along with super composition, make for a fabulous image.. What a cracking start to the new month..

@jorlam Thank you for your encouraging comments they are most welcome, as for the timing of the shot that was down to firing the shutter almost before the water droplet hit the surface, to improve the effect I would have to send two droplets down one immediately after the other so the later collides with the bubble travelling vertical at the top of its travel, tried very hard but failed miserably with my low tech equipment:)

I very much admire the artistic result but I think you need to be a physicist to do this experiment!!!!

@rosiekind Thank you for your lovely comments Rosie, as a point of interest I played about with the flash setting, it ended up set at 1/8 full power in hindsight could have increase the power and reduced the ISO:)

@terryliv Thank you for your comments and Fav Terry as I said the marble had left the main column and was travelling vertically upward in this shot:)

That is a stunning shot - the little sparkle on the marble at the top is just gorgeous, like it is winking at you! Love the patriotic background. Unusual and fun.
