Our next stop along the River Medway is Yalding. Yes, there is a quaint 14th century bridge, and village, but you have seen plenty of those already.
During the 1930's a series of weirs were introduced to the River to control flooding which had hit the Medway flood plain regularly, damaging farms and communities across mid-Kent. The weirs were designed to be functional rather than aesthetic, so I thought I would try and catch the two aspects in this image from Yalding.
The composition gives a good understanding of the place and I always like to learn new words in english. Thank you google translate, now I know what a weir is.
@ingajohansson Inga, it's one of the confusing 'exceptions' in English, as the 'e' is placed before the 'i', whereas normally it is the other way around, unless there is a 'c' involved. Don't ask... 🙄
