We have retraced our steps back down the Ashby Canal, almost to the junction with the Coventry Canal main line, and are tied up on the canal alongside the West Coast railway main line. The conjunction of the two always fascinates me. The latter unknowingly reliant on the engineering skills of the former.
Today we also visited the Bosworth Heritage museum en route, as the canal cuts through the very site of the AD1485 battle between the forces of King Richard III and Henry Tudor, which brought an end to the Wars of the Roses and the foundation of the Tudor Dynasty.
Today we have travelled for just under 14 miles in 5 hours of cruising.
Two very different forms of transport, each interesting in their own way. The history of the battles, and the links, between the two forms of transport is quite fascinating.
