Foots Cray Meadows by peadar

Foots Cray Meadows

Extras: from a recent walk.

These meadows evolved from the old manor of Foots Cray Place. The Kentish Manor of Foots Cray is mentioned in the Doomsday Book (1086), although the Manor House has now long gone. The area is now the largest open green space in the London Borough of Bexley (south-east of London, on the borders with Kent). The River Cray seen here runs north to the River Thames.
The blue sky and tree reflections are gorgeous Peter. An area with lots of natural history by the sound of it.

Looks a lot nicer than our suburb of Footscray in Victoria.
I believe the suburb of Footscray 5 km from Melbourne CBD was given its name because of this area. Why, I have no idea, there is no resemblance.

Great capture of the reflections. And the water curving away to the left.

@onewing Thanks for that info, Babs. If I get the chance I will dig around to try and find out more...

I'm not sure if I like the photos or the captions more. They're very informative and in a way make me want to travel.
