This is Anne, she is a Gipsy Palmist and was doing readings from her Caravan at Nottingham's Goose Fair.
How I came to take Ann's picture is quite complicated. She is the cousin of Geoff, who works at the same school as myself.
Geoff built and painted the hoardings that sit proudly on Anne's Caravan . Geoff knows I am a keen amateur photographer and asked me if I would take some pictures of the caravans . I told Geoff I would, but I was a little hesitant about just turning up and taking random pictures (see previous picture in my photostream).
Geoff said he would let them know that I might turn up, so they would not be alarmed by a stranger taking pictures of the caravan and business.
When I arrived I took some pictures and when I saw Anne Marie at the door I went over to introduce myself as a colleague of Geoff.
Anne Marie was really friendly and was happy to let me take some pictures of her caravan.
She asked me into the caravan and introduced me to her husband and son.
I then took some more pictures and Anne Marie let me take a couple of portraits. I also took some family shots of Anne Marie, her husband Colunus and her son Brandon.
She also introduced me to her Mum, Rosa, who also posed for a portrait too.
Anne started reading palms / fortune telling when she was 16. She is now 44, so she is a very experienced palmist.
Her next stop is Burton on Trent next and then up to Newcastle. "We get about a bit Phil, it's a good life" she told me.
I posted this in monochrome as I think it enhances Anne's skin tones.
Edited in Rawthereapee , utilising the auto levels feature. I then sent the image to the GIMP editor and cloned out a bit of caravan furniture which was creeping into the background on the left hand edge of the frame.
I told Anne, I would print the images and send them to her and her family via Geoff.
This picture is number 9 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the

@onewing hi Babs, thanks for your kind words, I did a mono portrait series (50 mono portraits with my 50mm lens) and Pat and Haze both follow me and liked many of the shots in the series. I am now doing a 100 strangers series and it has encouraged Haze and Pat to try a series of portraits too :)
