I explained how I was delayed at this location and how ever since I joined 365 I'd wanted to stop at the front of the queue so I could take a picture of the setting.
Well wanting to be at the front of the queue is a bit like waiting for a bus (or in this case ...a tram), you wait for ages and then two come along at once !!
Having found myself at the front of the queue again, I was not going to bother taking a shot because I'd only done my little collage / montage last Monday. However looking skywards (is skywards a word !! - perhaps Allison Williams @allie912 could confirm whether it is or not !), I saw a great sky, so I duly got my mobile phone out to capture the scene from my car window.
I think the picture is different enough from the collage to warrant it's own place in my 365.
I really like the sky against the tram wires and columns and the power of the tram as it crosses the road. I could have tried for some motion blur, but a little android phone 'grab shot' from a car dashboard doesn't allow for a mini tripod or adjustments for slow shutter settings !!
The B/W conversion has a slight infra red effect to it (the tram is yellow and green). This is my second 'shot through a car windscreen' in three days...having took a picture of the M42 motorway on Sunday
Anyway I hope you all like it , it just goes to show you don't always need expensive glass to get a half decent shot.
@robinmersh Thanks Robin, the tram was slowing down as it passes the frame...right to left as you look...because there is a tram stop to the left of the image.
@keneva Aww Eva you don't like our Nottingham trams ??? The people of Nottingham seem to take quite a bit of civic pride in the tram. They look quite cool when they trundle through the city centre streets. Glad you like the B/W bit though :)
@gill Gill, you are very kind :). "Very Neat", that's a good expression to describe the shot. I agree with you that the cables, wires, and barriers that cross the sky help to make the scene and sky more interesting :) . Thanks again
@seattle Constance thanks :), the little andoid phone does a good job sometimes. The trams are very sleek and modern, which contrasts to this area outside the city (approx 3 miles) , which has a lot of old buildings from many years ago
@sleepdozer57 Thanks Peter, it's my second shot at this location. The tram line is a good source of photo shoots , so I think I might be posting other loacations during my time here
Phil, You'll be relieved to know that skywards IS a word (meaning toward the sky) which can be used interchangeably with "skyward". Doing my research ( a librarian must confirm her sources) I learned Skywards is also the name of the Frequent Flyer program with Emirates Airline so you're in rarified company.
To change the subject, I really like the contrast between the pillowy clouds and the straight lines of the tram wires. You have relly composed a great shot.
Let me know if you have any more homework for me.
@allie912 Awww thanks Allison, I knew you would be able to answer that question :) Glad you like the shot. I will most probably have to call upon your librarian skills again :) . Thanks again
