This is looking up towards Mapperley Top / Dorket Head and was took on a Sunday afternoon walk.
The image is actually shot through the gap in the fence that the horse came up to for it's 'eye' picture, so I was unable to avoid the bits of trees on either side of the frame. I was going to crop them out but that would have made the image even smaller.
I like the clouds and the hills. I 'letter boxed' the image because the cloud in the top half of the original image was a tad bland.
I think the little bits of tree on either side work well, they give some sense of depth .. or something lol .. the clouds look great in b&w .. great photo :o)
phil, clouds are never " a tad bland" - an everchanging bundle of weather and influence, bringing joy/miserableness/etc to our daily lives..
but i understand your comment , yeah crop it out mate!
i really like that little tree, bang in the middle.
Nice feeling of space here & I like the distant trees. Is that a crop of something in that far field do you think ..it looks a lightish colour as if something is growing? Other than grass I mean !!!!! Lovely cloud formation Phil !
@sarahhorsfall thank you sarah, the little bits of tree seem quite popular.....i think we are sometimes a little too critical of our own images sometimes :)
@judithg cheers judith, i'm surprised with the positive comments for this shot...I was very dubious about posting it because i didn't think it was up to much
@happypat thnx pat i looked at the original image...the field is just grass, not a crop.....the only crop is the one i dis to make it letterbox. I think it must be the light that makes the field look different
I really like the feel of this panorama. This is what I think of when i think "English countryside." And I always think a bit of foliage to frame a shot adds to the depth of the image.
