A Rainy Sunday Morning In Arnold

Well it rained today. I opened the curtains at 7.45 am...it was raining..I took Ruby out for a walk at about 9.15 am it was pouring down....I took Ruby out at midday ...it was pouring down...I took Ruby out at 6 pm ...it was pouring down....in between the wet walks...well I stayed inside.

This is Front Street Arnold, the main shopping street, shot during Ruby's morning walk. It was raining hard as I took this shot and my little Panny TZ7 got a tad wet.

Front Street looks rather grim ! From right to left.....

Arnold Working Mens Club (CIU affliated) ..I don't know if I'm eligable to join now I'm unemployed !!!

Sewing Centre ... a little shop run by a little old lady...all things sewing !!!

Krissys Cards...a errrrrrr card shop !!

Blue Circle Fish and Chips, probably once in 10 years since I sampled the fayre available at the said establishment.

The Cutting Edge, guess what...a hairdressers !!!

Fatboy Cafe ...surprisingly open at the early hour....never sampled the fayre here !!

Tattoo Studio...Nope, never been in !!!

Bazaar Coffee Shop...a surprisingly high end independent coffee shop...never had a cup here though, but my wife says it's very good !

High Tech Bus Stand with LED's telling you time of next buses etc. (the 58 bus drops me off here on it's return trip from Nottingham)

ASDA superstore..... part of the Walmart family..always good value for money!

Multiple High Tech Bus Stand's !!!

Opposite Side of the road, in the distance.....Cash Generator Shop (pawn brokers, money lending at incredible interest rates), a family butchers .... never frequented there for a number of years .....Cross Keys Pub....never been in there for 20+ years !!!

We do frequent the local shops, but not many that appear in this shot.

Ruby faithfully stood by my side in her dog coat as I clicked a few shots in the heavy rain :)

Great capture of a wet dreary english sunday afternoon! However Phil I think you should make it your business to go into each of the shops mentioned, at least once. You could take a photo in each place - the front street series!

You will look like one of those poor reporters who stand out hatless in the pouring rain on BBC News...why on earth do they do that , as if we care if they have an umbrella!! Looks like a typical wet medium sized town in Britain....more lively during the week I hope!!! Ruby deserves a Bafta!!!

Well I was lucky! I took Betty out for a walk about 8.30 - it wasn't raining, but it has rained ever since and now it's snowing! Well captured - and wet!

I agree with what Tashy said!! It would be a fun challenge and interesting for us to see the shots!

Does look very soggy, a bit the same in Leeds all day today, just seeing some sleety snow now!

Looks wet indeed but that has brought out the colour in the buildings

Great composition

It's no wonder the high street is struggling Phil - you're not going in!! I can't be doing with this rain - or winter in general - any more. Adam has a m app on his phone that tells him when the bus is coming - linked in to those high tech bus stops rather than the timetable which obviously is useless!
