Talking Through The Glass by phil_howcroft

Talking Through The Glass

I am struggling a bit with my photos at the moment, so here is a shot I took back in the Spring and have held back from posting.

I'm not too sure if it works OK, whether it is obvious that the ape is talking to a lady. i.e. can you tell that the right hand side of the frame is a person.

Shot at Twycross Zoo, through glass in the Ape house

Anyway, I have decide to post the shot. Edited in GIMP and converted to mono using some pseudo grey settings in the GIMP / G'MIC black and white parameters.

Worth viewing large if you have the time :)

Note : I posted this onto flickr on Monday night with the same narrative too and it made the "Explore Page" ( a bit like the PP here). As of today it has received 6700 views, 204 faves and 25 comments. To say I am pleased is an understatement :) I hope the 365'ers like it too :)
This is a very touching image. And really, I had no trouble determining that it was the hair of a lady. What did surprise me though was to learn there was glass between them. It is so hard to photograph through glass without getting a reflection. Well done! Fav!

@ahleena thanks poppy , I think I got lucky and maybe the monochrome conversion damped down any reflections :)

A very striking shot. The focus on the monkey/chimps face is great. Yes you can tell he's looking at a person which makes it all the more interesting. Fav.

Well done for the flickr response, Phil. The lady is very recognisable. I wonder how she let the gorilla come so close. Fav.
