Well he contacted me a few weeks ago asking me if I would photograph a school reunion for him and some of his former primary school friends . Thirteen of them met up at the Crowne Plaza Hotel for a meal and get together. Many of the pupils at the school were children of migrant families who's parents moved to Nottingham from various commonwealth countries.
The local newspaper ran an article about the reunion and used one of my pictures for the printed paper (I missed the deadline for the online version).
When Mike contacted me he offered to pay me for taking the pictures, but I told him that was not necessary as it would be a pleasure to take the photos and record a great event.
All the people were from the same school year, so they will all be reaching 60 in the current academic school year. All in the same academic school year as me ! In fact the lady in the centre of this shot was 60 in the day of the reunion.
It was nice to photograph the occasion and share several of the images via email with Mike (which he passed onto his friends). The photos on his FB page seemed popular too :)
This is a shot of the ladies who attended the reunion. Oh and I borrowed a Canon Speedlight flash from one of my friends at camera club to make the shot work better (I don't have a flash)
Oh goodness, what a surprise! You must have been so chuffed that Mike thought of you and you got your work in the paper as well.
Nicely done. Did you make all your images from the event monos?
Congrats on this! How exciting. And Mike made a wise decision in asking you. Super work on the lighting and the exposure.. (And I thought I was the only one left in the world without a flash!!! lol! )
You have 300 people years in this image, Phil. When I am with friends we sometimes count our age and go back almost to B.C. Your mono shots are always a joy to see (wish I had your talent in this regard) and you have captured five bubbling faces in your gorgeous shot. No wonder Mike like it. By the way - I am another one who hasn't got a flash for the camera.
@dulciknit thanks alison, you can see the photos I sent to Mike on his Facebook page , a mixture of colour and black and white ..... the newspaper forgot to credit me as the photographer for their article . I told the reporter about how I met Mike on my 100 strangers project and she said they wanted to do an article about it , however I think they googled strangers and found found someone doing 500 Nottingham strangers !!! so lost interest in me . Is there a morale in the story there ? Don't trust reporters ! https://www.facebook.com/MCPARKERFUNMASTER1
