Lucy in Mono by phil_howcroft

Lucy in Mono

This is an additional photo of Lucy who is stranger number 160 in my 100 strangers series.

This is a mono portrait (the 100 strangers portrait was a colour photo).

Lucy works for the Sue Ryder charity in the Nottingham retro shop.

Lucy is stood next to a big blackboard in the door entrance to the shop, The blackboard has some artwork on it and I thought Lucy would look great against the blackboard.

See my previous photo for Lucy's 100 stranger story.

Edited in Rawtherapee and GIMP. The mono conversion is via the G'MIC black and white filter with pseudo greys activated

Such a china doll look and complexion - she has a very bland and emotionless face - she would make an excellent poker player ! I really like the B/W portrait - it works so well against the Blackboard as her porcelain face really works as the focal point . fav

what a good call to put her in mono. You loose the bright red lipstick, but gain much else.

She has almost a supernatural look in mono.

This is lovely, especially her complexion … great background too

She is nicely made up and not to flamboyant. Her expression brings to mind a number of different thoughts!

FAV.

Fav. A slightly quizzical, maybe far-away, look from Lucy in this portrait. I love the background and think the whole photo is great in b&w.

She looks like a china doll. I like this version as much as the coloured one. Fav. Yes, I did visit Camp Nou - amazing to see those UEFA Champions cups lined one next to the other (I think there were 5 or 6). Also the golden balls earned by Messi as well as the golden boots.

Beautiful contrasty b&w. and a quizzical expression in her face

I like the other one but this is a tad disturbing to my eyes which makes it extra special! Fav

@lynnz lynn , lucy's make up was excellent

@allie912 thanks allison, the light was quite dull which helped create the look :)

@helenhall I did think of doing selective colouring on Lucy's red lippy, but decided that would be a bit too corny, too easy !

@beryl thanks for your really lovely comment and analysis beryl, really appreciate the tine you took :)
