Papplewick Green Runners

My wife and daughters have joined a ladies running club.

A newly formed club, most of the ladies are beginners and the club today had their first outing to a "park run" event . A 5 km run.

Nottingham City Council has regular free running events in their municipal parks.

Today's event was at Colwick Park and I went along to photograph the event.

There's a bit of a back story to this pic, I knelt down to take the picture and realised I wasn't far enough back for my nifty fifty. So I stood up and started walking backwards. Today we had really high winds and they were whipping off the lake really strong. As I was making my upward movement to stand up, moving / walking backwards and off balance, the wind literally swept me off my feet.

I was really worried about my camera and managed to keep hold of it ! I also had a thick coat on which added a bit of padding as I tumbled to the ground !

I was OK, the only thing hurt was my pride !

The picture turned out OK, !

My wife Jane is 6th from the left, back row,
My daughter Kirsty is 8th from left, back row.
My daughter Claire is 5th form the left, front row.

Well done ladies
This is a real family thing to do apart from getting fit! Good thing you weren't on a cliff when stepping back like that!

Oh dear, you often have to suffer for your art. Great picture though!

Sorry, Phil, but I would have bent over laughing at you as you fell. But you will not be the first and neither the last one to fall over with or without the wind. When we had that gale storm a few weeks ago I saw a big man lying down on the ground who was toppled over by the wind and he couldn't get up by himself. Me and a man who came to give a helping hand had to suffer to helo him get up. Lovely capture of the group and thanks for pointing out your wife and daughter. I do a bit of jogging every now and then but only short distances.

Super group shot, Phil. They all look nice, I know how difficult this is to do.

They look to be braving the cold, but will soon warm up. Well done to them! Good shot Phil.

Well done, ladies; hope it all went well. Hope you're OK and didn't need a lot of Witchhazel or arnica, Phil; great line-up capture and good choice of background colour too.

Nice smiles... hope they had even bigger smiles afterwards! My wife used to say that I didn't race hard enough because I always crossed the line with a smile. One or two of my friends often threw up, making a more dramatic statement!
