'antique' ('purple' - 'white on white' - 'shadow')
My bedside table is a Victorian wine table which I inherited from my parents. This in no way means that they were wine drinkers and I expect my mother just bought it because she liked it. It's usually covered with a Victorian-wine-table-size tablecloth which I made in the same material as our bedroom curtains. I think it may be rosewood and you may just be able to see its little circle of marquetry in the centre. It's the only antique item in the whole house (no comments please!)
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
It is nice to have such things handed down. I was going to say I dont have any antiques but then I have my grandmothers rocking chair...so I guess I do.
Is it a wooden rocking chair? We had a modern pine rocking chair which we bought soon after we got married. It came in kit form and Ray assembled it - I think they are rather 'soporific'!

I'm sure you'll come up with something good! The cushion you can see is Laura Ashley and Clare made the red/purple one peeping behind it.
Oh I love furniture that's passed through the generations. My Mum has a table very similar that was her Grandads, maybe one day I will be lucky enough for it to find it's way to my house :-)
Although I don`t have antique`s in the house I do love it. The great craftsmanship I admire and the use of beautiful woods. I can be wrong but I think in those days the`ve use a lot of mahogany wood but for sure I`ve to see it in real. And often the great designs . Our side table is made of plastics and a design of Joe Colombo .

Aha, as often happens, I'm learning something (about Joe Colombo) from your comments.
Hope you will, Gemma!
Thank you and thanks for taking the trouble to view and comment!
