Could be Mrs Blackbird, of course. We moved the bird feeder (let's be clear, RAY moved the bird feeder) further down the garden as we were tired of the unwelcome pigeons sitting on the nearby fence of Jinks' outdoor room and making a mess on the deck.
So now the background for bird shots is this pale pink weigela currently in flower. (It's quite handy as I can sit on the deck in a chair with the long zoom and take the shots at my leisure - armchair photography.)
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Lovely capture and I understand the pigeon problem as from my picture the other day. Blackbirds are in the same family as Magpies so I have to give this a FAV.
It could be worse. It could be pigeons cooing!!!!!
Perhaps we should try that. To date we've been doing the stand up quickly, wave your arms about and shout 'Shoo' deterrent.
Could it take a serious crop so it becomes a blackbird portrait with no pole and fat balls ??

Balls from seeds glue together with fat . 6 for 1 € .
The birds in our garden don't like the seed much but they all love these fatballs.
