Another one gone

Finished decorating my tree today. Another of my vintage glass ornaments fell on the floor and shattered. They are slowly disappearing. 😢
That's sad, bet your tree looks good still though

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Thanks. The two who visited this afternoon said it looked good.

So sorry to hear that... I lost one of mine this year too !

What a heartbreaking story. You could change the title to “another one bites the dust” and enter the song title challenge with it.
December 21st, 2021
@grammyn harsh, unsympathetic and yet funny!
December 21st, 2021
@30pics4jackiesdiamond I can’t disagree with you

Sorry to hear that - my family's vintage ornaments are in the attic (which we can no longer safely get to - they look very similar to your lovely ones)

Sorry to hear you lost one. Those can hold special memories.
December 21st, 2021
oh, no! sorry to hear that, kathy. i don't think anybody makes them anymore. it's all plastic now.
December 21st, 2021
That's sad but thank goodness you have 10 left.
December 21st, 2021
Those things happen unfortunately
December 21st, 2021
Oh, that's a shame, but you've documented it rather well.
December 21st, 2021
very sad, but worse not to use them.
December 21st, 2021
Sad, we have a few gems and I broke one my son made. What a wonderful box of memories!
December 21st, 2021
Tom
Sorry about the broken one, happy about the ones remaining
December 21st, 2021
Ahh.. well it does happen... but who knows, you might find some spares on eBay! :-)
December 21st, 2021
The only way to prevent breakage is to not use them … and if you don't use them, what's the point of having them, right?
December 21st, 2021
As I was growing up we always kept the ornaments in boxes like these. Memories.

Great shot of those nice christmas decoration balls.

Here's is last year's version: http://365project.org/randystreat/365/2020-12-20

@jeanniec57 Thank you and I'm sorry that you've lost one too Jeannie. We'll have to start shopping at the antique stores to make up for those that have smashed.
@grammyn I can't decide if my hands just don't hold things well anymore or my tree branches are too thick to get the hangers around them. But it's disappointing. I really like the translucence of the old glass balls.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond It is harsh and unsympathetic. 😁
@linnypinny That's too bad you can't get to them. Any neighbor kids that might climb up there and hand them down. I'd help, but #1 I don't think you live anywhere close to me, but more importantly #2 I don't climb ladders, steep steps, etc. So really, I'd be no help at all.
@shutterbug49 Thank you Debbie. I think they belong to parent and grandparents and perhaps some were purchase at antique stores before everyone wanted them. I actually have several boxes in different sizes.
@summerfield Thanks Vikki. You're right. You have to look where vintage items are sold to find them.
@kjarn Thanks Kathy. I really have more in other sizes. But these are the really pretty ones.
@bkbinthecity It's a shame but they do Brian.
@jamibann Thanks Issi.
@pusspup I agree Wylie. Thanks for reminding me of that. @brillomick Can't have good things and use them without something happening occasionally. Thanks Mickie.
@tosee Thank you Tom.
@will_wooderson I might look Will. And in local antique stores. But...will I be willing to pay for them? We'll see.
@rhoing That's right Thom. And I will remember that.
@tunia This is the original box for some of them. I think I've shuffled ornaments around over the years as I've lost others.
@pyrrhula Thank you Ferry.

I can remember some just like that. Still the favorite ones, and they bring back the memories
December 22nd, 2021
@digitalrn Yes, that's how I feel about them. I really don't remember them on anyone's tree besides my own, but knowing who owned them before me is a good feeling.
