i'm thinking the subject is too near the lights to make a proper soupy bokeh. i also would've used a flashlight and do light painting on the bird to set if off from the background. but i like it nonetheless. aces!
@summerfield Thanks Vikki. I appreciate your critique. I tried light painting but the flashlight I had just wasn't up to the task. (Note to self, buy some decent flashlights.) The bokeh was soupier until I ran this photo through photoshop trying to lighten up the cardinal. I kind of like the effect it gave to the lights, sort of like Venetian glass beads, but probably not really a good bokeh effect. I like your idea for moving your light curtain. I have a string of fairy lights so I can but them wherever I want them. I recently obtained an old clothes rack to use for backgrounds, hanging things (would have been helpful when I worked on that levitation challenge), etc. I need to get it cleaned up (it's full of cobwebs and rust) before I bring it into use inside the house.
Thank you Lynn, Kathy, Sue, Will, Katy and Gary. I appreciate your views and comments.
