Get Pushed Challenge #517
My partner challenged me to an architectural photo. The actual subject was what I found most difficult. Many of the buildings in town are fairly common. But I've always like the photos of castles and churches posted by folks overseas, so that I'd try something like that, and this was the best subject I knew of in town.
It definitely fills the castle vibe beautifully! I think this looks like something that would come from Europe instead of Morganton NC. Fabulously composed to get it in the whole frame
Impressive building -- it does look like it could have been there for a very long time. Probably has been by North American standards. I like the angle of the light.
@grammyn Thank you. I had to keep backing up and backing up to get this much of the church in the frame. Then I decided I'd just make the tower and windows the subject rather than the whole church. @kwind Thank you Kim. @shutterbug49 Thank you.I've always liked this old church. The local hospital used to be catycornered across the street and was part of this church's "mission." @kjarn Thanks Kathy @jamibann Thank you Issi. @haskar Thank you Hannah. @bkbinthecity Thanks Brian. For some reason I was not getting your photos in my feed. Not sure how that happened, but I will be looking at them again beginning tomorrow. @craftymeg Thank you Meg. @cocobella Thank you Corinne. As many churches go, this one is fairly small but the tower does make it look bigger. @pyrrhula Thank you Ferry. i quite liked the shadows the tombstones were casting in that lower light. @will_wooderson Thanks Will. @mcsiegle Thank you. Apparently the church was constructed in 1846. As I said above, I like the shadows of the tombstones and how the light lit up those windows.
@farmreporter Seems many Episcopal churches carry on with traditional architecture. I'm glad. Thank you. I decided to go out and try for something enhanced by the golden hour lighting. I was pleased with it too. Thank you Ann.
