Angel Oak is an immense 500-year old live oak on John's Island in South Carolina. The tree's trunk is 28 feet around and it's about 66 feet tall. It was hard to do it justice with the bus loads of people milling around the base and the deafening noise from the park service workers who were aerating the roots by blowing air into the roots. Still, it was worth the drive to see this massive wonder of nature which probably was firmly rooted in this spot before Columbus discovered the Americas!
