Photo #888. What struck me in our garden is how perfectly the leaves align when looking straight down on the stalk of this plant. Clearly this is a “design” that works for this plant …
… as, in this case, it’s delicious and it’s kind of pretty, but it is also relentless — it’s nearly impossible to get rid of when you want to remove it. Of course we’re talking about mint (family Lamiaceae?).

By last fall we were trying to eliminate it from the garden to pot it and we thought we had ripped it all out, but here we are in the spring with several healthy stalks. Oh, well, we “made lemonade” from the lemons and used fresh mint in Monday’s lamb burgers http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2013-05-27 :)

I must say Thom, we have, or should I say had a small patch by the house, and it goes crazy, but in the heat of summer, you can't beat a good cold glass of mint tea.
