Honey bee on Sedum by rhoing

Honey bee on Sedum

I posted this to BugGuide and had a couple conflicting comments, but it was determined to be a honey bee (“Apis mellifera”).

I posted a shot of a similar-looking insect last year, http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2012-06-01
It was ID’ed at BugGuide as a Drone Fly (“Eristalis tenax”), http://bugguide.net/node/view/680412

On the ground cover sedum in our garden.

I like the clarity of this shot Thom. A beautiful photo, crisp and bright.

Honey bee! I've been struggling to catch some good shots of the little darlings. Love the vibrancy and clarity of this photo.

it does not look like a Bee to me, its body is too skinny.. I would have gone for a fly of some type, or even a wasp.. Great shot, nonetheless
