Not really sure why, but I just like this photo. It’s probably new growth on a fern, but I need to go back to the greenhouse to gather more photographic information so my plant biology/systematics guru can ID the plant and then explain what this photo has captured.
Aha! I have posted an image of this species before: http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2012-12-05 — It is “Phlebodium aureum,” which has several possible common names: “Golden polypody,“ “Golden serpent fern,” “Cabbage palm fern,” “Gold-foot fern,” “Hare-foot fern.”
But the main news for today is that I signed-and-submitted retirement papers!
(Another possible post was the sign outside the offices of Human Resources.)
My retirement will be effective June 1, 2014, the end of next week!
In the end, the things I will miss aren’t enough to compensate for all the “headaches,” reports and bureaucratic responsibilities with which I would be tasked. Also, I compared my retirement income over the next year to what my working income would be. If I were to work, I would — effectively — be working with/for a 60–70% pay cut. So I’m “out” and it’s pretty exciting!
