Younger daughter and her husband bought a home earlier this year, so I have another early-60’s New England home with a “PapaThom list.” First on the list was to replace the light fixture in the master bedroom with a fan/light combination. When I got up on a stool, this is what I found.
I initially figured it was just hanging by the wiring, but it turned out there was plenty of slack wire, so that was not a problem when I got the fan up. The mounting strap was flush on the ceiling, but the fixture wasn't even tightened to the mounting strap. Apparently, the other two, identical fixtures that are going to be replaced with ceiling fans are similarly wobbly. Sigh.
BTW, it was this or another grandchild photo. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Tomorrow we head for home.
