Let’s see if I learned… [Filler]

A couple weeks ago I posted a photo of a very similar looking butterfly. I wrote, “I am quite certain that this is a Pearl Crescent, but I will submit to my two butterfly/insect sites for confirmation, if only to establish (for scientific purposes), that this species was in Carbondale in late-July this year.” Turned out to be a Silvery Checkerspot. The expert at BugGuide explained the differences between the two and I hope I learned from his explanation — I think this is a Pearl Crescent. We’ll find out!

» Confirmed as Phyciodes tharos or “Pearl Crescent” at: [ BAMONA ] [ BugGuide ]
» Species pages: [ BAMONA ] [ BugGuide ] [ UK Butterflies ]
» For this little species: Wing span is 1¼–1¾ inches (3.2–4.5 cm)
